MF Softboard Design Competition Winner

In May 2020, WSL X MFsoftoboards hosted a softboard design contest called The Global Shaper Challenge.

This kind of shaper design contest is rare, and it was fiercely contested with entrants from all over the world.

When entering I thought if I just got to round two it would be fantastic exposure and promotion for my business.

The design I chose was twin fin fish. It was a model not currently included in the MF softboards range and I chose Kuma Fish for my entry.

Two months later, I received an email. Mick Fanning had chosen my design and I was proceeding to round two!

On the day of round two, all the shapers were introduced and it really exciting. It was a fierce battle, with some really interesting designs.  We would like to thank everyone who supported us and voted for us.

2 days later, I received an email saying that I had advanced to the final.

I’ll never forget the day that the door of my shaping room opened and there was Mick Fanning standing there.

“KUMA! Thanks for entering my competition, your board will be sold as a 2021 model in the MF Softboards collection”

I won!

I think it was the happiest moment in my life.

My family and many friends were just as happy as I was and I am so grateful to have such a valuable experience in my life.

“KUMA FISH” will be sold as 2021 MFSoftboards single model for 1 year only. I hope that many people will enjoy the speed of this board.

This contest was such a wonderful experience for me and I hope it will be held again in the future.

I would like to thank everyone who supported me and voted for me and the members of WSL x MFsoftboards Mick Fanning who gave me this opportunity.

“Great Small Wave Catcher” The Flat deck makes increases the volume to help catch waves and provide more speed in poor conditions, A Slight forward placed concave bottom with a deep exit Vee that increases the tail rocker. This board is incredibly fast and finds hidden pockets of speed on waves. Enjoy……………”
